BDS Community Garden Update - 5th October 2009
Back to News Item List
14/10/2009
Things have been quiet in the BDS Community Garden with members being on a well earned 2 week break. However as the saying goes “when the gardeners are away the plants still grow” or is that saying about cats and mice? Oh well it kind of works! The salad that is being grown for the BDS Annual General Meeting has been loving the protection of our hot house and will be just ready to be harvested for the 22nd. If you are thinking of coming you need to arrive on time as there will be a limited amount of snow pea seedlings to give away, you have been warned!
Darebin Work Skills Crew have been onsite at BDS helping to tidy up the grounds, this week they worked on one of our native beds weeding , putting down weed matting and then mulching. The results as you can see from the pictures look fantastic and have helped improve one of the major thoroughfares on our site. The crew are made up of residents of the Darebin lodge a supported residential unit for men with Acquired Brain Injury. Twice a week with the support of a BDS staff member they work on a number of gardening projects in the community.
